From Initiative to Alliance: A Stronger Path to Psychedelic Mental Health Access

The Psychedelic Health Equity Initiative (PHEI) is evolving. We are now the Psychedelic Mental Health Access Alliance (PMHA Alliance)—a name that better reflects our mission, momentum, and the powerful coalition we are building to transform mental health care. This change is more than symbolic. The word “alliance” represents our deep collaboration with state-level policymakers, community leaders, Medicaid decision-makers, and healthcare innovators to make psychedelic-assisted therapy truly accessible. We are not just advocating for change—we are actively shaping the systems that will make equitable access a reality.

Why now? Because the landscape demands it. With setbacks in FDA and state-regulated psychedelic pathways, we are playing the game the way it needs to be played today—focusing on Medicaid integration, building a robust evidence base, advancing workforce training for marginalized communities, collaborating with mental health and health equity organizations, and working across state governments to advance scalable, community-driven solutions.

PMHA Alliance is leading the way, ensuring that psychedelic healing reaches the people who need it most. This is the next phase of the movement, and we invite you to be part of it.

We are so grateful for your commitment to advancing access to PAT for marginalized communities. We have taken amazing strides and are excited to share updates with you, including:

Thank you for taking the time to engage with our work and for being part of the movement to expand equitable access to psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT). Your support and curiosity help drive forward our mission to make PAT a viable, evidence-based treatment option for those who need it most.

For those of you that have donated financially to this work, we are so grateful. You are investing in a future today, as we take substantive ground in shifting the landscape of mental health for marginalized communities.

Our Vision

We envision a future where psychedelic-assisted therapy is a standard, accessible treatment within the U.S. healthcare system. By working with Medicaid, policymakers, and healthcare providers, we are creating a pathway for PAT to become a practical, affordable solution for mental health care nationwide.

Our Mission

The Psychedelic Mental Health Access Alliance (PMHA) is building the body of evidence policymakers need to expand Medicaid coverage for psychedelic-assisted therapy. Through data-driven pilot programs, research partnerships, and workforce development, we are ensuring these treatments can be delivered safely, effectively, and affordably to marginalized communities.
