We are excited to share that PMHA Alliance has published its first peer-reviewed article in Frontiers in Public Health: “Community Engagement in the Development of a Model for Group Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy for PTSD in New Mexico”

Developed through a partnership between PMHA Alliance, the University of New Mexico, and the Bernalillo County Health Equity Council, the publication describes the design of New Mexico’s Group Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy (GPAT) study for PTSD and the community engagement process used to help shape it. The article explores how meaningful engagement with veterans, first responders, women survivors of sexual violence, Tribal and Indigenous community members, providers, and other stakeholders informed the development of both the clinical protocol and broader care model.

The work is now moving from community engagement and co-design into implementation. Recruitment and screening are underway for the first participant group, veterans and first responders, and participants will begin the clinical protocol in July.

For those interested in learning more about the community engagement process and its influence on study design, a recording of the team’s May presentation can be viewed here.

We are deeply grateful to the community members, researchers, advisors, funders, and partners whose collaboration helped bring this work to life. It has truly been a community effort to get here and could not have done it without the incredible support from all of you.
